Noise barrier in Essen

KrayArena Essen noise barrier - green noise protection for the sports field

In the Kray district of Essen, a 4-metre high and 50-metre long green noise barrier was erected along a busy sports field. The aim of the project was to significantly reduce noise pollution for the neighboring residential areas and at the same time create an ecologically and aesthetically sustainable structure.

Job details & challenges:

The proximity to residential buildings and the limited space made a flexible but efficient solution necessary. In addition, the wall had to be integrated into the surroundings in a way that was both acoustically effective and visually appealing. The subsoil and the use of the sports field placed additional demands on the statics and construction method.

Project objective:

The aim was to sustainably reduce noise emissions from the sports field operations and at the same time create a structure that offers ecological added value, blends harmoniously into the landscape and provides noticeable relief for local residents.
